Thanks to the Trey P and the good people at Vintage CLothing Limited for posting the interview on their blog. Here it is:

An Interview with Montreal Producer Strada

Trey P: So can you tell the Vintage audience and fans who Strada is?

Strada: I’m a producer, sound designer, and composer. I live in Montreal, Canada and yes, I am a French Canadian! For the last five years or so, I have been Wordsmith’s in-house producer. I also worked with Chubb Rock, Skyzoo, Gage Pierre(France), and The BC (UK). I did some scoring for a couple animation films and a few sound design gigs. Basically, I just try to make the best music possible, create audio background, and get you that feeling from sound.

Wordsmith & Chubb Rock’s “Bridging the Gap” Album dubbed #4 Top Baltimore release in “The City Paper”

Posted by Strada | Posted in Strada | Posted on 15-12-2009

4 Wordsmith and Chubb Rock: Bridging the Gap (Unruly)

When one of Baltimore’s most prolific verbal gymnasts teamed up with one of hip-hop’s golden age MCs, it wasn’t an effort to revisit a bygone era when the music and the message intertwined into an instantly memorable feel-good jam. Instead, Wordsmith and Chubb Rock offered a crisp reminder that such heady hip-hop isn’t gone, merely less pimped than its trap/thug kin. Bridging the Gap’s 13 tracks might recall the late ’80s/early ’90s with its jazzy vibe and casual attitude, but both MCs rhyme about the now with clear-eyed precision, never more so than on the witty “Clay Davis,” which turns Isiah Whitlock Jr.’s signature sheeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiit into a vocal hook around which the two MCs offer a verbal snapshot of today’s hip-hop nation: “We do it for the Browns, we do it for Simpsons/ We do it for Obama and Hillary Clinton/ We do it for the heteros safely screwing, alternative lifestyles and how you doing?” (Bret McCabe)

Less than zero from Seth Godin’s Blog

Posted by Strada | Posted in Beat Video, Business, Produced by Strada, Strada | Posted on 05-10-2009

Incentive thoughts from Seth Godin

“A study last year conducted by members of PRS for Music, a nonprofit royalty collection agency, found that of the 13 million songs for sale online last year, 10 million never got a single buyer and 80 percent of all revenue came from about 52,000 songs. That’s less than one percent of the songs.”

The internet has allowed ease of entry into the market. You can advertise anything, any service, any good, any piece of junk in your garage–essentially for zero. You can go into business effortlessly, telling yourself you’ll just hang out on the long tail and do just fine. Understand that zero is a very real probability, perhaps even a likelihood. Derek reminds us that 0% of a really big number is still zero.

Few album reviews quotes/charts …

Bridging the Gap is a strong showing from both the old timer and the newcomer. Both dudes are at the top of their spit game and the production is top notch!

Strada’s work on “Bridging the Gap” provides the kind of funk bass samples that Dr. Dre mastered before he went into seclusion as well as a production highlight for the record.
